International probe into war crimes in Sri Lanka needed – Japan Times
The Japan Times today (Monday) in its editorial calls for a “complete, unvarnished international” investigation into alleged war crimes in Sri Lanka.
“An investigation is required: If war crimes were committed — no matter which side is responsible — perpetrators must be held accountable. No government or rebel group must believe it is immune from the rule of law”, the paper said, adding: “If the government is telling the truth, it should have nothing to fear from an investigation.”

Tamil National Alliance (TNA) is to nominate Dr. Thomas Thangathurai William as its parliament member for Ampaarai district to fill the vacancy created with the death of Kanagasabai Pathmanathan.
He died in Mathurai in South India following brief illness, according to TNA sources.

Aid workers on ground have expressed concern over the nutritional status of thousands of children in the IDP camps in northern Sri Lanka. Concerns are growing that the number of malnourished children is higher than earlier estimated among thousands of recently displaced in Sri Lanka, said IRIN in its report.
