Only 26 go to govt. areas following Rajapaksa’s 48-hour ultimatum
Following ultimatum from President Mahinda Rajapaksa, only 26 civilians have gone to Sri Lankan government controlled area crossing through Oamanthai over the last 48 hours, according to sources in District Secretariat in Vavuniya. The Sri Lankan military sources however claimed 65 civilians have crossed Oamanthai at 65 during the time mentioned above.
Meanwhile, the Internally Displaced People (IDPs) in Vanni are in utter fear that hundreds of civilians are going to die within the next several hours as a Sri Lankan military official in Colombo said the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) is ready to launch an all out operation to “eliminate the remaining Tigers” after the end of 48-hour ultimatum.
Besides, at least 2 civilians were killed and more than 12 civilians wounded in artillery and Multi-Barrel-Rocket Launcher (MBRL) fire on Chuthanthirapuram ‘safety zone’ by Sri Lanka Army today (Saturday).

It should read that “Only 26 were allowed to flee into government controlled territories by the LTTE”!
