Monday’s SLA attack targeting civilian areas using cluster bombs, gas bombs and heavy weapons was planned to inflict more damage to people and force evict them in to army controlled areas. On Monday’s indiscriminate attack on civilian areas more than 1500 feared dead and 3500 or more injured, including hundreds of children.

The Sri Lanka Army that took hostages of around 1500 people who left for government controlled areas on the previous night and using them as human shields moved in to safe zone in the cover of the darkness by around 2:00 AM on Monday. The shelling was intensified by then and they were firing cluster bombs, gas bombs and phosphorous bombs inside civilian areas.
Reporter speaking to us said the gas bombs emanate white smoke that creates nausea. After smoking that people were fainted for more than one and a half hours. People suspect the purpose of this bomb is to capture people alive and to take hostage of them to proof people are forcibly detained by LTTE and they have freed them.
Our reporter describing the scene after the army offensive said ‘horrendous’, bodies are strewn everywhere, painful voices of the injured and sense of frustration everywhere. Only few of the injured were taken to a make shift hospital. The hospital also was hit by RPG attack and almost defunct. The hospital is in urgent need blood, people there are unable to donate blood since most of them are affected by malnutrition. The hospital cannot accomodate such a large number of injured. Already ICRC reported that the Doctors there are really worn out. “They are working for months now without any break, they work day and night. And medical supplies are lacking,” ICRC Chief, Castella said.
In the initial army thrust in to the safe zone in Maththalan, army was firing indiscriminately with heavy weapons; many hundreds died and the bodies are still lying along the road. Nearly 8000 civilians were taken in to army custody in Maththalan area.
By Monday afternoon, SLA troops were pushed back from Maththalan civilian areas that it had boxed earlier in the day. However, civilians fear for similar attacks to continue in the forthcoming days too, unless international community take some solid action to control the war.
Now it is confirmed over 35,000 civilians came out as the SL Army captured the earth bund set by the LTTE blocking the civilians escape. This is the biggest ever rescue mission done by an Army in the world and done within hours. Its great achievement of the SL Army and good example for the countries which are fighting terrorism. Now world community know that the Tamils lived in the LTTE area forcibly kept and if a chance of escaping take place its just a matter of time they come in thousands as LTTE menace is unbearable. Nevertheless LTTE done their dirty tactics again to prevent people escaping by using their suicide bombers and killed many children and women. This is how so called LTTE freedom fighters fight against the SL army by killing own fellow Tamils. Diaspora and IC must know why they still want to make ceasefire to secure the LTTE leadership and its carders. Tamils in Sri Lanka don’t need the LTTE menace anymore.

Everyone is speaking of people escaped and government broke the LTTE lines but NO ONE IS SPEAKING ABOUT THE 1500 PEOPLE DIED. Specially Sinhalese, what happened to the humanity? I thought Sinhalese want the best for Tamils (as they claim, killing tamil civilians is the best for tamils. Nonsense. Come on everyone we are human beings and we need to save those lives by putting an end to this war backed by India for it’s own reason. Today 1500 people, tomorrow how many? People we need to fight to put an end to this war. LTTE publically said, they want ceasefire and they are ready for serious talks monitored by IC, so why not push the government for some peace in the country. If Sinhalese dream of military victory, then the country is marching towards a major tragedy.

Do you deny using the pictures from Major General Janak Perera’s assasination by LTTE terrorists and publishing it on Siber net claiming it as evidence of civilians being killed by GOSL? Why do you quote unnamed sources, unnamed news agencies (i.e. french news agency but no one knows what agency etc) to publish stories that are blatant lies – example, Indian soldiers fighting alonside GOSL and many Indian soldiers being killed in battle…
The days of the LTTE terrorists are numbered and no matter what the supporters of terrorism do the GOSL will stop the war only after the LTTE surrenders or are killed.. The patriotic citizens of Sri Lanka back the legitimate government of sri lanka (the sovereign power of sri lanka) 1000% percent and look forward to rebuilding the north and east once peace is restored..

This is not true. Innesent Pepole in this area keep by Dirty LTTE to potect them. Why do not those tamil around the world not ask LTTE to relese those pepole. The only achievement of this war is that the people of the Vanni has become battle hardened and the entire population of 400,000 is now war trained, and every youngster a potential soldier. That is 160,000 future soldiers who have nothing to lose and can take come what may!
The SLA plods on. After boasting of victory since the fall of Killinochi ‘in a few days or weeks’, it is now four months. Now the last deadline of 24 hours too have passed, as the SLA was pushed back from Putumattalan on Monday! The war is protracted and will last many months as many of the LTTE have already exfiltrated the combat zone. The SLA is now pursuing a useless war, the outcome of which is irrelevant. They will just taking over a refugee camp.
Official Murder zone has been created by LTTE. Why not LTTE release the innocent people? LTTE thinks the trapped people are their family. That is why they kill them when people leave them to survive their own.
