Yes,indeed.it was his calling to stay with the people during the war situation.Many heard ,that together with atleast 7 priests of the ACM he worked tirelessly helping the distraught homeless tamils driven from village to village escaping the bombs and the fighting. with his staff he cared for orphans,widows of the war and the tsunami affected Tamils in the Kiran,Batticaloa area is also commendable. it is not clear why such a dedicated caring Bishop was arrested.
