Unidentified armed persons came in a vehicle had abducted an eighteen year old Tamil girl while she was staying with her relatives at Ka'n'niyaa, a Tamil village located in Uppuve'li police division, Sunday night according to a complaint lodged with the Uppuve'li police.

Sri Lanka: Tamil Eelam army thwart SLA advance in Manalaaru

The fighters of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) on Friday morning foiled an attempt of Sri Lankan Army (SLA) soldiers to advance into LTTE territory in Manalaaru, Kokkuththoduvaay. LTTE sources from Manalaaru said the SLA soldiers made an attempt around 9:30 a.m. to enter the LTTE territory, but faced stiff resistance from the Tigers. At one stage, the government soldiers were compelled to retreat. The details about casualty were not available but different sources confirmed that leg of one SLA soldier was blown away.

 
Sri Lanka: Claymore explosion in Kebitigollawe, 15 civilians killed
15 civilians were killed and 23 wounded when a Sri Lanka Transport Board bus was caught in a Claymore explosion Wednesday around 8:00 p.m. at Abimanagama near Dhammanawa in Kebitigollawe division in the Anuradhapura district, 23 km southeast of Vavuniyaa, police said.

Sri Lanka: Fire fight reported in Yala jungles
Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) reported of direct confrontations within the vicinity of the Yala jungles on Tuesday afternoon. Both sides said the skirmish took place at around 5pm. SLA said that around ten LTTE cadres were confronted and of them five were injured. "Security forces are on the trail," the SLA statement added.
