The recent tidal wave or tsunami which has now become a household name internationally has killed several thousands of our innocent fellow citizens. The thousands who were able to survive this calamity are thrown into greater challenge and are facing immeasurable hardships to re-build their homes and re-start their normal life.

“Searching in the river for what is lost in the sea” is taking place in this island. Observing the efforts to find a peaceful solution to the ethnic problem and related developments makes one think that this is exactly what is going on here.

LTTE is outraged by the attacks, last Sunday, in the Uppuveli area in Trincomalee, on its cadres who were carrying out their political duties. This is clearly revealed in the strong letter written to SLMM by the LTTE political wing leader Mr S. P. Tamilchelvan.

“Attacks on our cadres carrying out their political work have increased in recent times. This occurring in the current confused situation is a serious threat to the ceasefire agreement. Tamil people are confused and fearful”.
