thumb_wimalThe JVP’s parliamentary group leader and the propaganda secretary Wimal Weerawansa told Colombo media that the Sri Lankan foreign ministry is turning a blind eye to the spy network, run by the British High Commission in the eastern Sri Lanka. He further said that the embassy is using 20 NGO workers as informants to collect sensitive information about the security forces and their activities.

thumb_251In recent times due to President Mahinda Rajapakse’s refusal to offer an apology on behalf of his advisor cum brother, Basil Rajapakse as demanded by the CWC. Reports quoting the Ceylon Workers Congress say, that the party has still not decided whether it would accept portfolios in the government as the differences between the government and the CWC have not been resolved. “We left with a cause and the government knows it well. We can’t just reaccept portfolios and behave as if nothing has taken place” said the CWC sources.

The tragedy of the farmers is doubled by the increased fuel price and other farming related goods which have caused the production cost to go higher than usual. Therefore the loss is great for the farmers in the peninsula. They have requested the Sri Lankan government authorities in Jaffna to take necessary steps to transport their produces to the south by ships.

thumb_srflThe Sri Lankan ambassador to France had a lucky escape on Sunday morning thanks to the national flag, reports from there say. According to French sources, the ambassador was involved in an indecent act with an Albanian cleaner who worked at the embassy premises at around 2am, when some staffs from Sri Lanka had arrived unannounced.
