 S.Gajendran, Jaffna TNA Parliamentarian, states army directives regarding special identity cards to residents in the Jaffna peninsula is abominable and a blatant violation of humanitarian laws. In his statement, Gajendaran states that the members of the public of the Jaffna peninsula are under harassment by the security forces regarding that directive.

Several villages lying along the western coastline of Mannar face the threat of Sinhala rule as the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) is seen to be making an all-out push to conquer the district. On Friday morning the Sri Lankan military said that it has officially launched a major offensive to capture several villages lying along the mainland in Mannar district.

Hundreds of Muslim farmers in Kinniya division in Trincomalee district are being barred from cultivating their nearly four thousand hectares of paddy fields in Theeneri and Kandalkaadu. Farmers said Sri Lankan Army (SLA) soldiers are denying their access to their farmland after these areas recently came under the control of the Sri Lankan Army.
