Bodies of 7 Tamil Nadu fishermen washed ashore in Jaffna identified, cremated in Jaffna
The seven ill-fated Tamil Nadu fishermen whose bodies had been washed ashore in the islets of Jaffna last week have been identified today (Sunday) by their relatives, according to sources in Jaffna.
These fishermen had gone missing from Raameasvaram and Thanushkoadi in Tamil Nadu.
A R Rahman turns emotional on Lankan Tamils’ plight
Oscar Winner A R Rahman on Saturday turned emotional over the plight of suffering Sri Lankan Tamils as an honorary doctorate was conferred upon him by Anna University.
Speaking after receiving the doctorate, the music maestro said that he had been skipping functions in Tamil Nadu keeping in mind the plight of the Tamils suffering in Sri Lanka.
Three Sri Lankan Tamils arrive at Rameswaram
Three Sri Lankan Tamils, who reportedly lived in a camp in Vavuniya, arrived at Rameswaram on Friday. Sources said on information that an unknown boat had arrived on Narikuzhi shore, a team of marine policemen reached there and seized it with an engine. All three were taken to the marine police station.
Tamil Nadu’s regional party demands lifting of ban on LTTE
Demanding the lifting of the ban on the LTTE, members of a regional party based in Tamil Nadu staged a demonstration outside the Central Station in Chennai on Wednesday.
Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi party members also demanded equal rights for the Sri Lankan Tamilians, residing as refugees in India since many years.
P.M. Amza, Sri Lankan envoy heckled
The outgoing Deputy High Commissioner for Sri Lanka in South India, P.M. Amza, was heckled by a group of youths as he was leaving the Madras Gymkhana Club after attending a felicitation to mark the end of his tenure.
Mr. Amza was being escorted to his car after the felicitation by the Andhra Chamber of Commerce when the youths, including a woman, assembled in front of the vehicle and raised slogans.

The maker of superhits said the script is yet to be finalised and that he would be using fresh faces for the film.
