In the mid eighties, 42 Tamil liberation organizations existed to liberate the Tamils from the shackles of Sri Lanka. All these 42 Tamil liberation organizations were represented in Europe by all kind of persons coming from all kind of background and walks of life. From verbal threat of bodily injury to actual injury, beatings and any other method plausible, were meted out by them in gathering support and raising fund.

Those times are gone. Tamils have adopted and adapted to the European ways. Intellectuals and trained public relations professionals represent the LTTE in Europe. No matter if Europe, US or Canada, 98 percent of the Tamils, are behind the LTTE. Most of the other two percent are either disinterested in their society and a minimal part are still struck by the - 42 liberation organizations symptom, meaning still stuck to some defunct organization.

How the LTTE came to enjoy this much support?

1. The Vaddukkodai proclamation, given to TULF, is not upheld or respected by Ananda Sangaree, Douglas, Varathar or Sirtharthar but by LTTE.
2. From the inception in 1976 the LTTE is the only organization stayed in the field among the people and defend the Tamils against the SLSF.
3. LTTE transformed the desire of the people into policies and/or action. one example is Mayor Alfred Durraiappah, who was hated by the general public so much LTTE eliminated him. The caste system and dowry system was a curse on Jaffna Tamils and LTTE has enacted laws against such to the dislike of many but won overwhelming support.
4. LTTE’s might is such that there has been no more government induced planned supported pogroms against Tamils after 1983. Before LTTE’s birth every few years Tamils lost their lives, property and their self-respect. (1956, 58, 66, 77, 83...)
5. With just one pistol to a guerrilla group to a conventional army to navy- the growth of LTTE has been very admirable.
6. The strict self-control of its cadres is very much admired.
7. Their selflessness towards the betterment of the Tamil society’s future is highly respected.
8. Their devotion to freedom, society, organization and leader is not comparable to any body else’s.
9. From the start LTTE has had a clear approach to every aspect of nation building.
10. LTTE has been building all necessary infra structures towards statehood.
11. If LTTE gave up the armed struggle, Sinhalese Government and extremists will try to enforce their solution or bring an end to the Tamil problem - by pogroms after pogroms.
12. It's secrecy also gave glamour to younger generation.

Why then LTTE uses violence?

Violence is the only language Government of Sri Lanka and some section of international community understand.

Satyagraha, Ghandian style hunger strike in 1966 by the Federal party of Tamils was broken up by violence of organized thugs directly assisted and supervised by the army.

Anti Sinhalese Sri demonstrations was mercilessly crushed with communal riots instigated by the Sinhalese Govt and supported by the military.

This is past. In recent present...

1. 2000 DEC.. LTTE offered ceasefire. GOSL refused.
2. After, Kattunaike Airbase attack in 2001 everybody talked of peace.
3. Nobody of the IC worried about the breakdown in negotiations in 2003.
4. Nothing happened except some statements from parts of IC when ministerial power was usurped from the then minority government of Ranil Wickeramasinghe by madam CBK intending to scuttle the CFA.
5. Nothing on ISGA
6. P-toms was blocked by the courts.
7. When violence broke out in the north and east in 2005 and Tamils got killed IC had no comments.
8. When Tamils took to violence and members of SLSF got killed, then only, even the US ambassador suddenly wakes up.

The world has shown that they do not care for word, appeals, requests, demos ....

But they jump up when the guns of the Tamil side start to speak.

Even Tamils who are against violence understand all this and show sympathy to LTTE, because they know that the Sinhalese parties still have no real political agenda to keep the Tamils and Sinhalese under one roof except the military might.

Until this continues, the Treasury of the LTTE would fill without extortions, black mail etc. We happily, voluntarily and wholeheartedly donate to LTTE.
