It looks ridiculous and hypocritical, when the Co-Chairs of the Tokyo Donor Conference for Sri Lanka Peace Process comprising the United States, the European Union, Japan, and Norway release statements or maintain in common, that both parties should cease hostilities immediately and return to the negotiation table in adherence to the CFA of 22/02/2002 knowing very well that the LTTE is always ready but the Government is not ready with its hawkish policies.

Further, very unreasonably, they stipulate conditions only to the LTTE that, they should lay down the arms and allow the other party to go scot-free.

As a matter of urgency and paramount importance, to prevent further deterioration of the situation into which the island of Sri Lanka has plunged today, they should take immediate and appropriate action by stepping quickly into the arena and making both parties to the conflict respect the CFA, lest the war is prolonged indiscriminately without distinguishing between civilians and combatants and metamorphose into abysmal cataclysm.

When the Sri Lankan Singhalese chauvinistic authority unleash more and more terror on the Tamil civilians, the world at large watch the horror and stay silently turning a blind eye or a deaf ear to the cries of the affected who only clamour for their basic rights.

Tamil civilians are confined to their homes, living under constant fear for their life and this would be self-evident on a comparison of the percentage of the displaced from the Tamil population with that of the percentage of the displaced from the Singhalese population.

The Sri Lankan military should face LTTE as their opponents and the killings of innocent Tamil civilians on daily basis should be stopped forthwith.

Is it not legal and democratic, if the Tamils vie with the Singhalese for their basic and fundamental rights by non violent means, to conform to the accepted international norms and standard together with United Nations Charter?

Is it not true that, just as like violence begets violence, the violent means adopted by the Singhalese regimes militarily to crush the struggles of the Tamils for their basic rights since independence were the primary and motivating factor to induce the Tamil youngsters to take to arms?

Is it not imminent that, just as like as all the previous accords and pacts were jettisoned, probably the current CFA enacted after lengthy talks and deliberations is also to be jettisoned, because of the hawkish policies of the Singhalese regime?

Has anyone sympathised with the Tamil militants struggling for a noble cause in consideration of their numerical strength, and facilities in comparison with that of the Superpower-sponsored Singhalese armed forces?

Is it not a shame for the numerically superior Singhalese armed forces still to get foreign aids to fight a handful of militants who only struggle to establish their basic and fundamental rights?

Is it not true that, even the Singhalese regime headed by former President J.R.Jeyawardana, signed the Indo-Sri Lanka Peace Accord of 29th July, 1987 with Rajiv Gandhi and masterminded a ploy to crush the Tamil militants by the IPKF, which turned into a complete fiasco?

Is it not true that in its official capacity, the Singhalese regime brazenly with impunity amasses weapons and armaments besides multibarrel guns, naval ships and war planes reserving funds enormously in the budget for war, besides the other foreign aids from parties with vested interest to crush only the Tamils in Sri Lanka?

Why all these peace brokering international communities, while allowing the Sinhalese armed forces who commits high profile atrocities over the Tamils to go scot-free, are very keen on banning the LTTE making a mountain out of a molehill when it resort to retaliatory actions ?

What does the LTTE do, that the tyrannical Singhalese armed forces did not do?

Is it not true that the regional and super powers had both overtly and covertly helped the hawkish Sri Lanka Sinhalese government now and then militarily, and provided military training to the Sri Lanka’s top army brasses and shared military and naval intelligence with the Sri Lankan armed forces?

Joint naval patrols are being conducted in certain key and vulnerable areas. LTTE merchant ships were sunk in international waters with logistics provided by the Indian navy. And also it has transpired that India has gifted indigenously made Indra radars.

The Sri Lankan military should face only LTTE as their opponents not the entire Tamil race and the ruthless killing of innocent Tamils by Sri Lankan armed forces should come to an end .

Does any terrorist group anywhere in this world, have uniformed militia, hold talks with amnesty and red cross, run administrative bodies and police station, fight against inhuman laws of a constitution, and ban alcohol, smoking and drugs among its members ?

It is utmost stupidity to attempt to cure the symptom rather than the disease. It is conventional wisdom to learn from past mistakes. Any freedom struggle or terrorism is a symptom of an underlying cause of an unjust system, aggression or denial of rights.

Any freedom struggle or terrorism will automatically vanish once the causes for the symptoms are eliminated.
