The tragedy of the aerial bombardment of an orphanage at Sencholai is an index of the climax of the acts of genocide committed by the Sri Lankan government against the Tamil people. Ignoring all norms of human decency and humanism, the security forces have carried out an air strike and caused a death of more than fifty orphans and sixty others are seriously wounded.

Although this orphanage is run by the LTTE, it is the home for the children who lost their parents consequent to the excesses of the security forces. The hands that ordered the air strike on a refuge such as an orphanage can never be forgiven. While the Sri Lankan government accuses the freedom struggle by the LTTE against the Sinhala government as terrorism, on uts part, it unleashes state terrorism on innocent Tamil civilians itself. This is their double face.

The Sinhala government having committed this grave violence on children is trying to impress the world that it is only a canard spread by LTTE. This is not the first time the Sri Lankan state media has indulged in such misinformation. When five innocent students were killed by the security forces in Trincomalee, when innocent Tamils were killed in Allaipitty, Vankalai and Muthur, when refugees were killed by shelling St.Phillip Neri's and refugee camps at Mankumban, the state media rushed with lies proved false later.

Twelve years ago the Chandrika government bombarded St.Peter's church at Navali, Jaffna and killed about 170 refugees but the then foreign minister late Laxman Kadirgamar denied it.

Likewise in this instance also state media attempts to deny the bombardment of the orphanage. They little realize that the information technology has made vast strides in the present era. They also little realize that the LTTE too has kept pace with the development of information technology in areas under its control. Therefore such misinformation and falsification cannot befool the International community.
