Although the people of Sri Lanka and the international community express hope for peace, it looks like the parties to the conflict are getting ready for a final war.

On the eve of such a war, Pala Nedumaran, the leader of the World Tamil Confederation, reminds of a historic role that the people of Tamil Nadu and their Chief Minister in particular have to play.

“A moment comes but rarely in history for a people to play a significant role. Whoever realizes his or her duty and plays a historic role with dedication will be remembered forever. We live in an era, when there is a final war for the establishment of Tamil Eelam is about to erupt. The people of Tamil Nadu have a duty and history will record their contribution at this historic moment. Those who express their solidarity will be hailed, while those who fail will be condemned as traitors“ Nedumaran has said.

We are of the view that Dr.Karunanithy, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has a role to play in the present context. It is recorded in the annals of the history of the Tamil Eelam struggle that Makkal Thilakkam M.G.Ramachandren, the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, made a striking contribution, whilst his successor and follower Jayalalitha betrayed the cause which her mentor MGR stood for.

The Sinhala imperialists are grouping together to form a National Government and suppress the Tamil Eelam struggle with oppressive measures. Now the time has come for Kalaigner Karunanithy to play a historic role. He has to persuade the Tamils in all parts of the world and rally them under one umbrella and be their leader to express solidarity with the Sri Lankan Tamils at this historic moment.

History awaits to record his historic role at this crucial hour.
