Tamil people are shocked at the killing of Nadarajah Raviraj, lawyer and TNA Parliamentarian. He contributed greatly to the society not only as Parliamentarian but also as a human rights activist. He raised his voice strongly against injustice and oppression.
As a result of his great qualities, he earned the respect and admiration of all Sri Lankans-Tamils, Sinhalese, Muslims.
People express concern over this murder in the Colombo city where there is tight security. He was one who strived hard to ensure that all communities live in peace. He never hesitated to condemn injustice and therefore his loss has created a vacuum among the Tamil people.
The TNA staged a demonstration opposite the Colombo office of the UNO to highlight the killing of refugees in Vaharai. TNA also handed over a petition to be sent to Koffe Annan, UN Secretary General .At this demonstration, Raviraj expressed his concern for the victims of the attacks in Vaharai. Finally, today we have to condemn his killing and express our concern.
President Rajapakse, Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe and other political leaders have condemned his asassination. Country has lost a son who condemned killings and voiced for peace. All sections of the society must work hard to put an end to this gun culture and the government has a duty to pay greater attention.
