19th anniversary of world Diabetic day is celebrated in South Africa under the auspices of International Diabetic Federation. Shocking revelations are made about Diabetes which is known as a mega disease at this conference.

It is revealed that this illness which earlier affected the middle aged and the elderly people now affects children in large numbers.

It is also revealed that this ailment claims the lives of a large number of children. Parents and teachers are blamed for not detecting this disease among children at early stages. They have revealed that the prevalence of this disease among small children is due to a lack of exercise and unhealthy food habits among the young ones. Obesity is another reason for the cause of this disease.

Some years ago diabetes was described as an Asian Epidemic. Therefore, countries in Asia must show greater interest in identifying their disease, treating the victims and in the prevention of diabetes. It is also necessary for the governments of Asian countries to create awareness among the people about various aspects of this decease.

Diabetes is also described as global diabetic Tsunami. In the twenty first century, this decease is going to bring down the life span of the people in Asia. It is unfortunate that Asian countries do not address their minds to this major issue.
