Following an escalation of violence in the north-East, there is an exodus of Tamils from Sri Lanka to Tamil Nadu, while those who remain in Sri Lanka are faced with human tragedies. Those who have gone to Tamil Nadu braving the seas are given food and shelter by Tamil Nadu. They enjoy peace. In fact, Tamil Nadu government has created a congenial atmosphere for Lankan Tamil students who are displaced from Sri Lanka to pursue their education. Meanwhile the speeches and messages of the political leaders of all political parties in Tamil Nadu expressed in favour of Lankan Tamils are a great solace to the suffering Tamil people. The leaders of political parties in Tamil Nadu are worried that the food aid from India may not reach the suffering Tamils in the North-East if it’s channeled through the Lankan government. Therefore, they demand the central government to work out appropriate modalities to ensure that the food provisions are channeled through international organizations. The central government also repeatedly requests the Sri Lankan government to put an end to the violence in the North-East and to bring back peace. But there has not been any progress in that matter. They have fallen on the deaf ears of the Lankan government. It is in this context of unfortunate events and misery that the Tamil Nadu Assembly has passed a resolution expressing grief at the deterioration of peace and security of the lives of Tamils and urging the central government to take an appropriate step to prevail upon the Sri Lankan government to ensure the security of the Tamils and to find a political solution to the Tamil problem. It is a timely action. An English translation of the Editorial in Virakesari, a Tamil daily, based in Colombo Set as favorite Bookmark Comments (5)

| Don't be hoodwinked that the explosives bound for the SL Govt that was unearthed in Tamil Nadu shows the Central Govt is not aware of what is happening. How come a regional power does not know what is happening in their own backyard.Hope Vailo will investigate. This is the same tactics of the SL Govt. |
| Thank you for your support. Please keep up the pressure on the Central Government. Make the Sinhala paranoia of "Tamils in the North ...." come true. |

Each and every Tamils of Tamil Eelam really appreciate the support of Tamils of Tamil Nadu. We as Tamil Eelam Tamils feel bravery in a way that our 80,000,000 blood relations are just 32 KM away from us. We are proud and surprised about the richness and development of Tamil Nadu State among any other states in India. We know the Tamil Nadu state has been the porter of the whole Indias economy. Tamil Nadu has the best factories, International Firms and IT companies. Tamil Eelam Tamils problems have been popularized in India because of Tamil Nadu Tamils. We really appreciate the support of Tamil Nadu Tamils to our freedom struggle. I just found only one mistake in the Tamil Nadu Tamils is that they are still struggling to find a good leader. Just 2 questions to Tamils of Tamil Nadu: 1)What qualities have you found on Actress Jayalaitha to rule you? 2)What other qualities have you found on Karunanidhi other than he is a Tamil pundit? (At least I agree that Karunanidhi has done something to Tamil Nadu) Try to find a leader who can strongly reflect the views of Tamils of Tamil Nadu in the Federal level. If that leader says something, that should shatter the whole India. We expect that kind of leader for Tamil Nadu. I am quite satisfied with the work of Tamil Nadu parliament but not enough. |
