Featured Article: India must exert pressure

There is a deadlock in the peace talks. All efforts by Norway to reconvene the peace talks have failed. As a result, the Norway facilitator is frustrated.

At this critical juncture, Anton Balasingham, LTTE ideologue has passed away and this too has in a way affected the progress of the peace talks.

The CFA signed between the government and the LTTE is not in force. The agreement is not honoured. The innocent Tamil civilians are killed and injured daily following the violence in the North-East.

Watching these developments, the leaders of Tamil Nadu including the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Karunanithy have expressed the view that India must exert pressure to find a solution to this problem. It is hoped that the new development in Tamil Nadu will make a change in the attitude and the approach of the Central government.

Tamil Nadu police have detected explosives meant to be sent to Lankan government. This exposure created a tension in Tamil Nadu. There were staunch protests from the people of Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Karunanithy has raised this issue with Sonia Gandhi.

Sonia Gandhi has written to Karunanithy assuring that India would not extend any military assistance to Lankan government. Union defence Minister Antony has categorically stated that India would not provide any military training to any Lankan security forces.

What is next? The peace negotiations must be reconvened. The A9 highway in the North and the A15 highway in the east must be re-opened. The humanitarian problems of the Lankan Tamils must be solved. The ethnic problem must be resolved. Therefore the role of India must be to exert relevant pressure to ensure these.

An English translation of the Editorial in Virakesari, a Tamil daily, based in Colombo

It is a pitty that India hasn't recognised the importance of Tamils of Ceylon yet. During Indira Gandhis's regime, a prominent intellectual Mr. Parthasarathy was appointed to look into the Ceylon's burning problem. Since he well understood the Tamil problem in Ceylon, he was able to advise our mother, Indira, to make strategically important decisions, which was proved to be not only good for Tamils of Tamil Eelam, but also good for the whole Indian interest.

On the other hand, the current policy advisors who are responsible for making decisions regarding Ceylon problem on behalf of India, are apparently Malayalies. They are always against Tamil interests and make policy decisions for petty reasons. For them India's Interest is second to their own interests. As a result, India has failed to handle the Ceylon problem properly in the recent days, whereas all the Indian enemy countries such as pakistan, china, sri lanka, usa are trying to exploit the current Ceylon problem to be used against India. If the whole Tamil population is totally wiped out, it will pave an easy way for pakistani/chinese military intelligent agents to operate freely in the North and East of Ceylon, and hence they can easily target the Indian economy with little resistance.

To cut the long story short, it is strategically important for India to beaware of this danger from pakistan, china and usa. The only way for India to get around that danger is by appointing prominent personnel to handle the Ceylon problem.

Hey fake babu and et al.

Whenever sinhala columnist could not stand and cope with my arguments, they suddenly change their names. For instance, in the past, a sri lankan local high-commission officer used to use TAMIL names such as SHIVA, Murali2, and Jayram to write rubbish here. This is because, he wasn't able to come up with any justification for my reaosnable questions. When I found out, he is now using the fake name Babu!!!

Come on guys!!!, show your real faces. I understand that you can't speak the TRUTH, whilst showing your TRUE faces, hence the use of Tamil Names.

Friends,

I am proud to say that I am an Anti-Indian. I will be a pro-Indian after the Indias Foreign Authority will have filled with Tamils of Tamil Nadu. Right now, India has an insubstantial foreign policy on Sri Lanka. That should be changed. Till then whatever protest the Tamils do wont help.

Even the assurance given by Sonia Ghandi is just a counterfeit. Indias falsehood on Tamils issue will really give them unexpected troubles in near future. Contemporary foreign authorities of India should take the charge for any consequences for their doings now.

There is no way that India would exert pressure on Sri Lanka. I am a strong believer that Peace Talks will not solve the utmost problem of ââ?¬Å?liberated Tamil Eelamââ?¬?. It will rather goes on forever. Unless SL Military gets some sudden perception to withdraw from Tamil Eelam, War is the only solution.

Until Mr. Anton Balasingham was alive, he was capable of convincing our National Leader to come to the peace table. But, now there is nobody to convince our Leader to do so. (The position of Anton Balasingham may be replaced by somebody else, but the influence Mr. Anton Balasingham had on our Leader, no body can replace that.)

India ââ?¬â?? Bye Bye!!

Indian pressure will be welcome, but the Tamil people (LTTE) must insist on the CFA being fully implemented. Agreements have never been implemented by Sinhala governments so far and this should be the starting point. One wonders what worth a Sinhalese signature?
