Although there have been killings in the north and although these have been brought to the notice of the authorities on several occasions nobody seems to take serious note of them.
It is unfortunate that the persons responsible for such anti social acts are not brought to book. No steps have been taken to find the culprits. These acts of violence have not been stopped. It is quite clear that armed groups are able to commit criminal acts freely and without fear.
People raise questions as to how these criminal acts are committed while so many check points operate day and night at every junction in the north. It is reported that recently statues and jewels in 6 Hindu temples in Kaithady in Jaffna have been stolen. Monies in till boxes at the temples have been stolen.
What is shocking is that all these criminal acts are committed, while there is a curfew in the Jaffna peninsula. Meanwhile people express concern that they have to face harassment at security chck points in the Jaffna peninsula.
Therefore , it is the duty of the government to take immediate steps to bring normalcy in Jaffna and remove the sufferings of the people.
