Private bus owners have sought a permission from the government to increase the bus fares. they have warned the government that if permission is not granted before August 12th, they will suspend the bus services.
They have explained that the increase in the bus fare is necessary to cope up with the increase in the fuel prices. As an alternative, they have sought some relief. It must be noted that the annual increase in the bus fare was only last month. Within a period of a month, they demand another increase in the bus fares.
This demand has been made by the private bus operators without considering as to who would be affected by such increase. The people are already burdened with increase in the fuel prices, flour prices etc. They are burdened with an increasing cost of living. The private bus operators are trying to add to this burden felt by the ordinary people.
If the government has a sound economic programme, people need not suffer like this. The politicians are only worried about capturing power and retaining power. They don’t address their minds to the problems of the people or to the feelings of the people.
We insist that the government should find a solution that will not affect the common man.
