International Red Cross Society has informed that Omanthai Thandikulam check point will be opened for 5 days a week from Monday to Friday for the convenience of transport and for the convenience of the people.
It is also said that the Uyialamnkum check point in government controlled area of Mannar will be opened only three days a week. It is important to take steps to open both check points on all 7 days of the week for the convenience of the public. Such closures lead to increase in prices of essential commodities. They can cause inconvenience to the members of the public. Pregnant women and patients suffer most. Roads are suddenly closed without adequate notice. That makes things worse. There is inordinate delay in checking vehicles at check points particularly in Mathawachi, where all the goods in lorries are unloaded and checked and reloaded before they are permitted to proceed. This causes problems to traders as well as consumers. The closure of the A9 land route to Jaffna has also caused number of problems in the Jaffna peninsula. Therefore the government must take measures to solve the transport problem in the peninsula and also the increase in cost of living. All of the above are games to keep Sri Lankans apart, while those who are paid to do humanitarian work have fun. They like to make it look serious as if not they will loose their jobs. Why can't everybody push for peace. Look at Europe, do they want to separate and fragment? Let us see more responsible and HONEST action on the part of everyone to end displacement. I traveled by train from Colombo to Jaffna and took a plane to Trichy with friends who were Sri Lankan (All groups)in 1972. We had so much fun on the train - Music - dancing- it was a DISCO on the train. Today the youth do not know that we lived harmoniously and really joyously before. We have to find a way to re-integrate all Sri Lankans and allow the current and future generations know the Splendor of our land and the fun we can have. The games being played by "foreigners" have to be put to an end where they circulate rumors to keep us fragmented and separated. See how much they earn by saying that Sri Lanka is in peril etc. Our polititions and militants are being taken for a ride by all these people who earn by keeping us separated. Our leaders have to talk to each other without "Foreign PAID Facilitators" and bring peace rapidly to our land. Just imagine what COULD happen in Sri Lanka (Within a WEEK) if all our leaders, KILLED their EGOs and stubbornness, picked up their phones and called each other or as communications have advanced a great deal, could connect through their computers on skype or Yahoo messenger, with webcams and speakers and mikes, in TOTAL SECURITY, sitting in their own homes/palaces, established a conference call and talked about important things such as 1) how they could END THE WAR today, 2) Create a humane and concerned police force to protect the population, 3) Release, reinstate and educate child soldiers 4) consolidate all fighting forces and have a national army, air force and navy 5) Identify the Natural and Latent talents (Thought patterns, Will/Drive and Inborn Skills- The POWER within us) Create employment rather than give handouts , 6) How to make all Sri Lankans economically advanced so that every family has a credit card and become equally rich, 7) bring the cost of living down as around 95% of Sri Lankans are suffering, 8) Entice the talented Sri Lankans to come back and develop our country, like Rwanda: see website http://www.toktenrwanda.org/ru...rubrique=4 9) Quickly arrive at fulfilling the Millennium Development Goals and last but not least 10) Plan on winning the next Nobel PEACE prize. In the meantime, I would like to organize a Disco train from Colombo to Jaffna, leave Colombo at 6.00 PM, breakfast on the train and arrive in Jaffna at 6,00 AM. Return the same evening from Jaffna at 6.00 PM so that all people understand that we have no animosity amongst Sri Lankans, also that all youth can get an idea of what they are missing. Who will help me? I know that all NOGS and their staff will try to kill me as they will loose their jobs if we have peace and joy in our country. |
