It was in the Vietnam war that the united states of America faced the greatest defeat in the annals of its history. Thereafter whenever America engaged in any military operation, the ghost of Vietnam war always haunted the White House and the American leaders.

American President Bush always disagreed with any equation of the Iraq aggression with the Vietnam War, four and a half years ago. He denied it completely. He maintained that both issues were different.

For the first time last week President Bush compared the Iraq war with the Vietnam war. But what is unfortunate is his equation of Vietnam war with Iraq.

Last week, addressing the American troops, President Bush praised the American troops as great warriors who have liberated humanity. He also warned that any withdrawal of the American forces from Iraq would mean a great disaster and that the enemy would come to their door step.

It is clear that he is readying himself to face a pressure that is going to be exerted on him by the American Congress next month to withdraw the American forces from Iraq.

It is crystal clear that Bush has not learnt any lessons from history. He has not understood the currents of history.
