The refugees in the north-east face never ending problems and are denied basic facilities. As far as the east is concerned, even if the people are resettled, normalcy has not returned. People, who were displaced following military operations had fled from their own villages abandoning all their belongings including cattle.

In the present context it is not easy for them to return to their normal life. They must be offered due compensation for their losses.

Meanwhile refuges in Moothoor and Kilivetti areas are also facing several problems. They live in temporary sheds. They are suffering without facilities such as safe drinking water, medicine, good food etc. The present weather conditions are also unfavorable to them.

Refugees who opt to engage in fishing must be provided with the necessary fishing gears and while those who want to carry on agricultural work must be provided with necessary facilities.

TNA Trincomalee Parliamentarian points out that the people who were displaced following military operations are forcibly resettled in the villages of Ral kuli and Thaganagar. He maintains that they must be resettled in their own villages.

The government must take relevant measures.
