Diabetes which earlier affected the old people and the middle aged people now affects the children also .All over the world large number of children have become the victims of diabetes. The International Diabetic Federation has declared this year as “Children’s Year” in order to create an awareness among the countries of the world.

It has been identified that obesity among children is one of the causes for diabetes. This is due to the food habits in the rich countries. Diabetes is described Asian Epidemic. This is a disturbing trend.

It is reported that about 70,000 children under the age of 15 are affected diabetes type one. There are statistics that children under the age of 18 are victims of diabetes type 2 in both developing countries and developed countries.

It is a disturbing trend that the traditional food habits have changed in Asian countries. There are no extra curricular activities for physical development in schools. Being seated before the computer for a whole day can also be detrimental. We need to create awareness.
