While there are no signs that violence will decrease, the international community has stressed that there is no military solution to the national question. The conference concluded in a strong note that the country cannot be developed without peace.

Robert O.Blake, the US Ambassador for Sri Lanka, addressing the Conference stated that any assistance for development extended to the country will not make a meaningful impact unless there is a permanent solution to the national question, that cripples the country.

Although he has made his speech on the lines of the foreign policy of his country, he has clearly conveyed a message that there can never be a military solution for the country’s problem.

The US Ambassador went further and stressed that while congratulating the President Rajapakse for securing a majority for his government in the Parliament, he would emphasize that such Parliamentary majority must be a basis for a dialogue between the government and the LTTE for credible power sharing.

Many other diplomats too spoke in the same strain. They expressed the same view.

Irt is therefore clear that the international community is increasingly becoming aware of the fact that the country is moving towards a military solution.

The mindset of the previous and current Government, including majority of the Sinhala people of Srilanka are entrenched with the feeling of wanting more Tamil blood, due to fear of Tamil peoples resolve.
Also, the International community has gone to sleep over the "Final solution to Tamil issue. They did so to the Jews, Rwandans, Armenians, Combodians, Bosnians and more recently Somalians. Not, $4.5 billion or $4.5 trillion aid is going to find any solution. Separation is the only way out for the sake of Eelam and Srilanka. The sooner the better.
