The victim is identified as Shanmugarajah Sasikaran age 35 a farmer from Varani Yakkaalai in Thenmaraadchchi. The killings of this nature have become a daily occurrence in the besieged Jaffna peninsula in addition to the numerous abductions and disappearances.
The killings by the notorious unknown gunmen or the paramilitary operatives have claimed an awful toll in the Jaffna society in the recent past. However much international pressure is exerted on the Sri Lankan government to curb the spiralling violence in Jaffna and particularly the activities of the paramilitary’s killing spree shows no letting down.
