At least three soldiers of Sri Lankan Army (SLA) were killed and several others were injured in a retaliatory attack by Tamil Tigers in Vavuniya-Mannar border on Monday afternoon. LTTE Military spokesman Irasiah Ilanthirayan told newsmen in Kilinochchi that a heavy clash took place around 4 p.m. on Monday when the Tigers successfully retaliated a fresh artillery offensive launched by Sri Lankan Army towards LTTE controlled territory in Paalamoaddai in Vavuniyaa Mannaar border.

The clash lasted for more than two hours beginning at 4 p.m. The clash left at least three SLA soldiers killed while government soldiers could not inflict any casualties on the Tigers side.
