The meeting is seen as a coalition building effort to topple the Mahinda Rajapakse government. According to reports the meeting between the one time political enemies took place at Ms. Chandrika Kumaratunga’s official residence and lasted for 45 minutes.
The former Sri Lankan president has returned to the country recently amidst political turmoil and opposition rallies. The details of the issues discussed were kept secret from the media. Meanwhile, former Minister Mangala Samaraweera who spearheads the SLFP Wing is meeting Ms. Kumaratunga on Thursday.
