Sri Lanka: LTTE repulse the Sri Lankan military advance in Mannar

The LTTE has seized the dead body of a Sri Lankan soldier and an assault rifle. The military operation began with heavy artillery and motor fire towards the LTTE positions. The LTTE units engaged in a strong retaliation lasted for several hours.
The Sri Lankan military has suffered heavy losses in the battle and withdrew to their former positions, carrying their dead and the wounded soldiers. The Sri Lankan military has been shelling the civilian’s settlements in the Pallamadu area and the surrounding villages after retreating to their positions until evening. An LTTE cadre was killed in this action. Meanwhile, a Sri Lankan soldier was killed and three more wounded in the LTTE artillery fire on Mannar, Thalaadi Army camp on Wednesday.
