Sri Lanka: SLA soldier killed as hidden bomb explodes

One soldier of Sri Lankan Army (SLA) was killed in a hidden land mine explosion incident that took place in Pulipaaynthakal under Vaazhaichcheanai police division in Batticaloa district around 12.30 p.m. on Sunday.
Police said the SLA soldier was searching hidden explosives in Pulipaaynthakal in Kiraan when the bomb went off.
The victim, identified as Mahinda Ratnayake, 30, from Matale in Kalewella police division, was rushed to Vaazhaichcheanai hospital in critical condition but he succumbed to his injuries after being admitted, hospital sources said.
Pulipaaynthakal is located 25km north west of Batticaloa.
