The producers have been badly hit by the plunging price for their product. The tragedy of the farmers is doubled by the increased fuel price and other farming related goods which have caused the production cost to go higher than usual. Therefore the loss is great for the farmers in the peninsula. They have requested the Sri Lankan government authorities in Jaffna to take necessary steps to transport their produces to the south by ships.
