Sri Lanka: 17 Tamil civilians arrested in Southern Sri Lanka

4 Tamil civilians were taken into custody by the Sri Lankan forces at Maligawaththa in the outskirts of Colombo while another 13 Tamil youths were arrested in Gampola district. According to reports Four Tamil civilians were arrested on Sunday morning in a combined cordon and search operation conducted by the Sri Lanka Army and Police at Maligawatte in the outskirts of Colombo city.
Around 1800 civilian houses were searched by the Sri Lankan forces during the cordon and search operation which lasted for four hours. The arrested civilians are said to be in detention of the Sri Lankan police undergoing interrogations.
Meanwhile, 13 Tamil youths along with 121 other were taken into custody by the Sri Lankan police and military during a combined cordon and search operation on Sunday in Gampola district which lasted for more than ten hours. Further reports said arrested Tamils are being detained in Gampola Sri Lanka police station for interrogations.
