During a meeting with visiting Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama in Brussels, the EU Commissioner also said, “the EU hopes that in addition to dealing with past alleged human rights abuses, Sri Lanka should also ensure that action is taken to prevent any further incidents.”

In a statement, Ms. Ferrero-Waldner said that over past few years as a member of the Co-chairs of the Tokyo donors along with Norway, the US and Japan, the EU had taken a very keen interest in trying to help bring peace to Sri Lanka and was anxious to see this process succeed.

During the meeting, Minister Bogollagama assured the EU Commissioner his government has a road map to be used in bringing the conflict in the country to an end and was working out the parameters of a political settlement, the statement added.
