M.Elamcheliyan, Vavuniya Magistrate, who held the magisterial inquest of the killing in a Tamil village Veerapuram, ordered the police to arrest the suspect home guard and produce him in Court.

During the proceedings, it was stated that certain home guards from Ulukulam entered the Tamil village Veerapuram and fired at the people.

The deceased was identified as S.Nagalingam, the Chairman of Veerpuram Village Development Society. The villagers told the Magistrate that it was a home guard that fired at the deceased.
