Sri Lanka: Torture of Tamil detenues in Booza - UNP Tamil Parliamentarian

T.Maheswaren, Colombo district UNP Tamil Parliamentarian, told the House that the Tamil detenues at Booza camp are harassed and tortured by both fellow Sinhala prisoners ands prison guards. It is like a torture camp.

Addressing Parliament, he stated that Tamils are kept in prisons in the south, the north east and on the 4th floor on a large scale without being brought to trial. They suffer like this because they are born Tamils.

He continued that the Tamils are arrested and detained with impunity under the provisions of the Emergency Regulations. The excess powers given to the police and the security officers under the Emergency Regulations must be withdrawn.

He added that Tamil youths who are detained without trial n Booza camp without proper facilities must be released.

I AM LOOKING FOR A LIST OF THESE TAMIL PRISONERS IN ORDER TO CAMPAIGN TO RELEASE THEM IF THERE ARE NO CASES.CAN ANY BODY HELP? ALSO WHAT HAS THE AMENSTY INTERNATIONAL DONE ON BEHALF OR THESE POLITICAL PRISONERS WHO ARE LANGUSHING IN REMAND FOR YEARS?

These lists and names have been out there for years and years.

Go to TNA MPS.
Human Rights offices in the North and EAst.
Internally displaced people's office.
Visdit the bereaved families if they have not dissapeared too and get their names.
