To ensure the prevention of human rights violations in Sri Lanka. The European Union has told Sri Lankan to stop further violations of human rights in the country and said that dealing only with past crimes was not enough. The European Union External Relations Commissioner gave the message to the visiting Sri Lankan foreign minister Mr. Rohitha Bogollagama during a meeting in Brussels on Tuesday.
“EU hopes that in addition to dealing with past alleged human rights abuses, Sri Lanka should also ensure that action is taken to prevent any further incidents.” The commissioner said in a statement. Mrs. Waldner also said that EU as a member of the co chairs to the Tokyo donor conference had always taken keen interest in bringing peace to Sri Lanka and was anxious to see the peace process progress.
