Rev. Fr. Rayappu Josef, Bishop of Mannar, has appealed to President Rajapakse to take appropriate measures to rescue 850 Tamil civilians trapped in Mullikulam following the military operations in Silavathurai.

In his urgent communication, he has stated that 850 innocent civilians comprising of 175 families are trapped in Mullikulam area without basic facilities including food since September 1st.

Bishop appeals that they are unable to leave the village and move along the land route due to the land mines all over. He has appealed to President to take steps to bring them along by sea or air.
