The non-availability of firewood and kerosene have caused untold sufferings for more than three hundred displaced families who are now sheltered in welfare centres in Killiveddy and Pattithidal as they are not being able to cook their meals.
Civil sources said a group of these IDP families have been brought from Batticaloa district who have been waiting to be resettled in their own villages in Moothoor east.
Their resettlement process is stalled, as clearance from the Sri Lanka Army is yet to come. Non-governmental organizations are helping these ID families to resettle.
