Military spokesman Brigadier Prasad Samarasinghe will leave for the United Kingdom shortly to take up his new position as the Defence Attaché to the Sri Lankan High Commission in London.
Brigadier Samarasinghe confirmed his new appointment to The Nation, but was unable to give more details about his new posting as he was yet to receive the official letter of appointment which spells out his new responsibilities.
“I am yet to receive my letter of appointment and so I cannot give the exact date I will be leaving to take up my new duties,” he said.
He noted, however, that his position as the Defence Attaché would primarily mean the coordination and improving of the defence cooperation between Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom, and facilitating training for the armed forces will also be part of his duty.
