Sri Lanka: Tamil Eelam supporters carrying medicines and food begin their journey

Members of the Coordination Committee of Supporters of Freedom for Tamil Eelam (Tamil Eelam Vidhuthalai Adharavaalar Orunginaippu Kuzhu) set out for Nagapattinam carrying food and medicines for Sri Lankan Tamils from here on Saturday.
Led by Tamil Nationalist Movement leader P. Nedumaran, members of various Tamil organisations, under the banner of the Coordination Committee of Supporters of Freedom for Tamil Eelam, left by road, carrying the food and medicines.
The committee members will reach Nagapattinam on September 11 covering Thanjavur, Kumbakonam, Mannargudi and Tiruvarur. From Nagapattinam, they plan to ferry the food and medicines to Jaffna on September 12.
Plea to Centre
Before embarking on their journey, the committee members raised slogans urging the Centre to grant permission to supply food and medicines to the affected Sri Lankan Tamils through the Red Cross.
Mr. Nedumaran in his address sought support for the boat journey the committee planned to undertake.
