Sri Lanka: Island murder case, the main witness reluctant to testify due to security concern

The main woman witness in the Velanai, Pulliyamkudal murder trial is reluctant to travel from Killinocochi and appear in Jaffna Courts following security concerns. This was revealed by attorney–at-law Remidias, looking afte the interest of the affected people.

In this case, inquiries are conducted into the killing of 13 civilians in Vellania and Pulliyamkudal villages.

Kayts Additional Magistrate T.Vignarajah stressed that the culprits must be brought and that the witness must co-operate and testify at the trial. They must also take part in the identification parade and identify the killers.
