Speaking to media personnel the TNA MP accused the Sri Lankan government’s minister for Disaster Management, Amir Ali for settling Muslim civilians in the Traditional Tamil village of Naavaladi and banning the construction of permanent houses to the Tamil civilians who were affected by war and Tsunami disaster, through the military.
He said that the Sri Lankan military has prevented a housing project for the Tamil IDPs in the area funded by the American Mission. "SLA has threatened the contractors to remove the construction materials already brought there. Tamils in the area openly accuse Minister Amir Ali for the situation” he said Jeyananthamoorthy charged that this traditional Tamil area is systematically occupied by others.
"This village is traditionally a Tamil area within the administrative area of Vaaharai DS but this area is encroached by others in a systematic manner, with SLA turning a blind eye” he charged adding, that “if a ban is imposed on the construction of permanent housing for the displaced Tamils, then those who have forcibly occupied the crown lands should be evicted immediately”The TNA MP also said, that he did not have any faith in the Sri Lankan government over the issue."Though we do not have faith in the Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL), still I have decided to take up this matter with higher authorities. Jeyananthamoorthy also said, that a similar forced occupation of crown land is underway in Meeraavoadai, Vaazhaichchenai.
