The Sri Lankan Court of Appeal on Wednesday rejected an appeal by the former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga seeking an injunction against curtailing of her privileges. The Court of Appeal Chairman Justice K. Sripavan stated that such injunction would be contrary to a previous Supreme Court ruling on the ex-Presidents’ privileges.

However, the Court of Appeal issued a temporary order to the Presidential Secretary to provide the due privileges according to the Presidents’ Privileges Act.

Kumaratunga in her petition said according to the Former President’s Entitlement Act, every former President including her was entitled to official transport and all other facilities enjoyed by a Cabinet Minister.
