Sri Lanka: Ex- home guard shot dead in Velikanthai, Polonaruwa

As he was going for prayers at a mosque near his home at Kattuvanvila in Velikanthai in Polonaruwa district. A former home guard personnel was shot dead by unidentified gunmen at Kattuvanvila in Velikanthai in Polonaruwa district on Wednesday as he was going for prayers at the local mosque.

According to reports, the victim who served as a Sri Lankan home guard left his work a year ago and has been trying ever since to go abroad.

The deceased was identified as Ibrahim Subahir age 28, a father of two children and a resident of Kadduvanvila Navasena area. His body has been transferred to the Velikanthai hospital for post-mortem examinations, and later handed over to his relatives.
