Soldiers of Sri Lankan Army (SLA) on Friday morning, around 9.15 a.m., shot dead one youth inside an abandoned house close to sea shore in the coastal village of Kurunagar, within Jaffna Municipal council area. Later, police recovered the body that was sent to Jaffna Teaching Hospital for post mortem examinations.

Additional Magistrate, Mr. Thirunavakarasu, visited the place of occurrence on hearing the news of incident and conducted primary inquiries.

Citing security reasons, SLA has recently declared areas that fall within 500 metres from the coast as High security zone (HSZ) and ordered people residing in the areas to vacate their homes.
