This little girl, who is desperately looking for all the disappeared male members of her family, including her father, made a tearful appeal to UN Human Rights Commissioner Louise Arbour as she stood alongside her mother and other protestors at the UN compound last week.
The group was seeking UN intervention into the disappearances of their loved ones during the UN Human Rights Chief’s visit to the island, But the Sri Lankan Government is NOT willing to discuss a U.N. presence in Sri Lanka and neither opening an office of Human Rights in Sri Lanka," said Human Rights minister Mahida Samarasinghe.
