The Sri Lanka Army (SLA) camp in Paanama in Poththuvil in Ampaa'rai district has come under attack around 6:30 p.m. Monday, according to military sources in Colombo. 55 SLA troopers were stationed in the camp, the southern most detachment of the SLA in the district, according to initial reports. Meanwhile, official information from the Sri Lankan Ministry of Defense said the attack targeted a post south of Panama, at Thalgasmankada.

Additional troops have been rushed to Panama, the sources added.

Panama is located 61 km southeast of Ampa'rai town and 63 km northeast of Kataragama.
