2 Sri Lanka policemen and 2 army soldiers killed in three separate incidents in Mannar. In one incident 2 Sri Lankan police men were shot dead by unidentified armed men at Oalaiththoduvaay. Meanwhile, a Sri Lankan army soldier was killed in a confrontation at Preiyathampani on Sunday and another killed in a mine explosion at Prapaankandal.

Unidentified gunmen shot and killed two Sri Lankan policemen as they were on a road clearing patrol along the Mannaar Thalaimannaar Road on Monday at 12:30 p.m. The two policemen were identified as Ariyadasa and Bandara attached to the Mannaar Sri Lanka Police station.

The shooting took place at Oalaiththoduvaay junction, 9 km northwest of Mannaar town. Meanwhile, a Sri Lankan army soldier was killed in a clash at Preiyathampani on Sunday while another was killed in a mine explosion at Prapaankandal in Mannar.

In another incident at Pandarikulam in Vavuniya two Sri Lankan soldiers were severely injured when unidentified armed men riding on a motor bike opened fire on the troopers as they were guarding a sentry post. Acknowledging the incident, the Sir Lankan Media Centre for National Security said the injured soldiers have been admitted to Vavuniya hospital for treatment.
