Sri Lanka: A Tamil woman disappeared and a youth sought refuge at Jaffna HRC

A woman in Pungudutheevu, who went for tuition, has been disappeared according to complaints made by her relatives at the Jaffna Human Rights Commission Office on Monday. Meanwhile, a youth from Kodikamam has sought refuge at the Human Rights Commission after getting death threats from the Sri Lankan military backed paramilitary operatives.
A woman has been reported missing by her parents to the Jaffna Human Rights Commission on Monday. The missing woman was identified as Pathmalingam Thulasika age 21 from Ward No. 3 Pungudutheevu. According to the parents the victim left house for a local tuition class and has never returned home.
Meanwhile, a youth from Thaavalai Iyatralai in Kodikamam in Thenmaradchchi division has sought refuge at the Jaffna Human Rights Commission Office on Monday. The youth, Kanthasamy Srikanthan, fled his village due to death threats form the Sri Lankan military operated paramilitary operatives. The Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission, in its latest weekly report has expressed its concern over the increasing number of persons seeking asylum in Jaffna within the first week of October.
