The charges against the ex-Chairman of Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (RADA), Tiran Alles, for “helping” the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Ealam (LTTE) will be filed soon, Solicitor General, Dappula de Livera, said it before the Supreme Court.
A panel of Supreme Court judges chaired by the Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva on Monday ordered the Attorney General to release Rs. 30 million from the accounts of Alles keeping one of his houses as guaranty.
The Supreme Court made this order taking a petition filed by Tiran Alles into cognizance in which he stated that the suspension of the accounts led him to difficulty in running his companies.
Because of this he is being unable to pay the salaries of around 200 employees of his business concerns.
The Central bank has frozen the bank accounts of Alles, who is a close friend of the sacked Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera, on suspicion of providing financial help to the LTTE.
