Sri Lanka: Sri Lankan Navy fired on fisherman who were searching their missing colleague in Mullaitivu

A group of fishermen who went on search for their missing fellow fisherman were fired on and chased away by the Sri Lankan navy in the seas off the cost of Kallapadu in Mullaitivu. The fisherman has been missing since Sunday morning after entering the seas for fishing.

A fisherman from Kallapadu fishing hamlet in Mullaitivu went missing since Sunday morning 5.30 after venturing into the sea for costal fishing. His boat and other belongings have been washed ashore but the fisherman is still missing.

A group of fishermen who were on a search mission to locate their missing fellow fisherman were fired on and chased away by the Sri Lankan naval vessels in the area. The fishermen returned ashore unable to locate the missing man. The victim was identified as Sinnarasa Vaamathevan age 60 a father of four children from Kallapadu.
